About Us
The AfricanPaintingsGallery is a project of our main work - web design. Our mission is to promote East African art while showing off our web design for future web design clients
Prices are never fixed. This means we will assess your whole order and come back with the best offer we can negociate to. Exchange rates for US to Kenyan Shillings also vary all the time so our list prices are high
We deal directly with the artists resulting in the lowest prices on the internet. If you find a similar item elsewhere going for less we will beat it
We can always reduce prices because cash in hand and high turn over benefit everyone more than selling slowly at high prices. Repeat customers get big discounts. Multiple purchases also cause shipping costs to reduce depending on factors such as the type of artefact, size, weight and your location. When we provide you with our final price we have carefully considered all these factors
For payment we accept :
Moneybookers - (online bank)
2Checkout - (credit cards)
Any major curencies in cash (normaly for local purchases inside Kenya)
Kenya / UK check
UK bank transfer

We are based in the UK, Australia, and Kenya. We have lived in Kenya for many years and are aware of much of the artistic talents in East Africa. We have known many of the artists first hand for a decade, most in the context of art, but sometimes only later finding they paint as a second interest - or "hobby"
Who are the artists?
the artists page (we are updating this)
Do you have a physical gallery?
We are entirely internet based and therefore no cost to you of a physical gallery
How does the order process work?
Please use the "Request" buttons to add items to your order before submitting the order. You can add notes to the "Comments" area of the form
You can also use the Contact Page or email info@africanpaintingsgallery.com if you have any queries. You will be personally replied to confirm receipt. Phone: (kenya+254) (0) 736 509 788
No payment is made until we have confirmed the pieces, you have specified how you wish the items to be shipped, and how you wish to pay
Paintings are sold on a first pay first serve basis. Orders may be cancelled at any time prior to payment being made. Orders must be paid at once and in full
Shipping - How do my items get to me?
We do not profit from anything other than the sale of the item
Items are shipped from Kenya (East Africa) to anywhere in the world. Usually paintings are rolled up and packed in a cardboard tube before being mailed by registered post. This is the most cost effective and we have not had a problem with it. Our listed prices (for paintings only) include shipping by this method
For sculptures or works that are of high value, or otherwise bulky, you must consider shipping by DHL for increased reliability (rolled up paintings cost from 100 to 200 USD depending on your location). We will provide you with the exact DHL zone based fee if you wish to use DHL. Again - we do not profit from anything other than the sale of the item
Some countries you might have to pay customs an import duty
What happens if the products are damaged. What is your return policy. What is the risk?
Art work may have material imperfections or age cracks which add to their beauty and authenticity. We ask that you keep in mind the unique nature of your purchase when evaluating products for return. Because all works on this site are hand made, variance in material, color, size, style and texture is the very nature of the art
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return it to us within 14 days of receipt for a refund. We will deduct the shipping and handling fees incurred by us, and process the balance of the refund on receipt of the item(s). Any such items must be reported within 24 hours of receipt and all original packaging material must be kept
Once paintings have been dispatched, We will not be held accountable for any mishap (not delivered, stolen, damaged, e.t.c.). Where possible we will assist in recovery. We will not refund
How long does it take to get my painting?
Orders are shipped within 24 hours of payment unless you are otherwise notified. (if paying by check allow an extra 10 days for it to clear from when we receive it)
Expect up to 10 days by registered post
Expect up to 4 days by DHL
Do you have a printed catalogue?
No, this is because the listed art works change frequently and art is by their nature unique. We may start selling reprints of popular paintings in future and keep a downloadable catalogue however
How often is this site updated?
Every few weeks
